Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, says his administration will continue to recognise traditional rulers as a critical part of the leadership structure in the state.
The Governor gave the assurance during the presentation of brand new official sport utility vehicles, SUVs to 10 first-class chiefs and emirs in Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang said the presentation of the official vehicles to the 10 traditional rulers across the state is a way of reducing the stress of traditional administrative governance in plateau State for the royal fathers.
The traditional institution in Plateau State serves as a custodian of culture, identity, and order among the people.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ephraim Usman, said that beyond the provision of vehicles, the state government is taking steps to ensure that traditional rulers receive the necessary support to enable them to perform their roles effectively.

While appreciating the gesture, the Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Buba, appealed to the government to expedite action in filling traditional stools that have remained vacant for years.
The Gbong Gwom Jos also called on the government to extend similar support to traditional rulers at the lower tier to further strengthen the traditional institution across the state.
