Police Affairs Minister On National Policing Policy

The Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Suleiman says the Nigerian Police is currently developing a national policing policy and other supporting frameworks to promote efficiency, rebuild public trust and maintain professionalism.

Imaan Suleiman said this during the Renewed Hope citizens town hall engagement on strengthening community policing in Nigeria held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The Renewed Hope town hall meeting was conceptualized to promote direct engagement between the Ministry of Police Affairs, citizens and other key players across the country.

Speaking at the gathering, Imaan Suleiman, the Minister of State for Police Affairs said the initiative hopes to help establish collaborative partnerships with communities, which promote public trust in helping to fight crime in the society just as the police continues to restrategize.

The Inspector of General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun in a message delivered by the DIG Force Intelligence Bureau, Dasuki Dalachi called on citizens to always report criminal activities to authorities no matter how highly placed those involved.

The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule said he is certain that with more citizens participation in community policing, crime rate will continue to reduce in the society.

The Minister also visited Police formations in the State such as the Police Command Secondary School, Police Public Relations school and a host of other formations.

She also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia in other to liaise with him on security matters.
