The Nigeria Police have announced the deployment of a unit of the Mobile Police Force to Kuriga.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, assured collaboration with other security agencies, for the safe return of the abducted students.

He did this during a condolence visit to Governor Uba Sani, at the Kaduna State Government House.

In response to the distressing abduction of 287 pupils and students at Kuriga primary and secondary schools, IGP Kayode Egbetokun visited Kaduna, to express condolences to Governor Uba Sani, and the Kuriga community.

He reaffirmed police commitment to collaborative action with other security agencies.

He also disclosed plans to deploy a Mobile Police Force unit to Kuriga.

The initiative aims to strengthen security and facilitate the safe return of the abducted students.

To safeguard educational institutions, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), has pledged to deploy a specialised squad to schools across the region, enhance security measures, and prevent future incidents.

The Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Tanko, emphasised the significance of the Safe School initiative, urging increased vigilance and proactive security measures within educational environments.

Recognising the psychological impact on victims’ families, UNICEF has stepped in to provide crucial psychosocial support, acknowledging the need for holistic assistance, beyond the immediate crisis.

Governor Uba Sani appreciated the concerns of the visitors.

He assured that the government will provide all the necessary support to the military and security agencies, to ensure the children are rescued unhurt.

As authorities collaborate on multiple fronts to ensure the safe return of the abducted students and fortify educational spaces, the nation awaits further updates, on the ongoing efforts, to address the security challenges.
