Police arrest 140 suspected rapists, 50 suspected bandits in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command says it has arrested a total of 140 suspected rapists out of the 87 reported cases and has charged all of them to court for prosecution between June and August 2020 period under review.

Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, who stated this while parading the suspects before journalists at the Command Headquarters, also said that about 50 suspected bandits and other criminal elements were arrested and killed while it has rescued twenty kidnapped victims.

He also hinted that a bandits leader terrorizing 3 front line local government areas of the state, 30-year-old Rabe Abdullahi, was arrested during an operation by men of the command.

CP Buba while reiterating the command’s efforts towards eradicating all forms of crime and criminality in the state also said, many of the previously arrested suspected bandits and their collaborators are presently being prosecuted in different courts in the state.

While advising unrepentant bandits and other criminal elements to seek other legitimate means of businesses, he warned that the command will continue to go after them until sanity, peace and security return to the state.

The arrested suspected bandits leader Rabe Abdullahi also known as Dogo Rabe confessed to terrorizing 3 front line area councils of Safana, Batsari and Danmusa of Katsina State.

The bandits’ leader while speaking on his involvement in banditry attributed it to destiny calling on the government to continue dealing decisively with unrepentant bandits caught perpetrating crimes in the state.

Items recovered from the suspects according to CP Buba are: 9 AK 47 rifles, 20 locally made guns, 2 motor vehicles, 20 motorcycles, two hundred and twenty rustled cows and the sum of six hundred and eighty five thousand naira.
