The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 24 protesters for violent conduct following a nationwide protest that led to a breakdown of law and order in the state.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, the police warned they would take strict measures against miscreants who hijacked the procession, vandalizing government, private, and police assets.

According to the police, the miscreants attempted to gain access to the Kaduna State Government House. Security personnel resisted them at the location, resulting in injuries to two policemen and damage to a police armored personnel carrier stationed at the Government House entrance.

The protesters also attacked the office and staff of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) and vandalized property.

The statement revealed that those arrested were found with items indicating their violent intentions, including scissors, jack knives, and live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition recovered from one Hassan Ibrahim of the Rigasa area in Kaduna.

Additionally, one suspect was arrested wearing a police camouflage uniform to deceive authorities.

Commissioner of Police for Kaduna State, Ali Dabigi, has called on parents and guardians to restrain their wards from disturbing public peace. He emphasized that the Command would not hesitate to deal with such actions with the seriousness they deserve.
