Commercial activities along the popular Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State came to a halt early Wednesday as commuters and motorists scrambled for safety when some suspected commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators whose activities were recently banned by the State Government clashed with security operatives on enforcement operation.
The rampaging youths blocked the main roads and set burn fires amid sporadic gunshots which forced many to flee for their lives.
A vehicle was set ablaze while two bicycles belonging to the Neighborhood Watch were not spared by the angry protesters.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Command police spokesperson Bala Elkana in his reaction said an Inspector sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment adding that 34 suspects were arrested by the combined police team drafted by the Command to restore peace in the troubled area.
The suspects he explained will be prosecuted in court.
