Police arrest car snatcher in FCT

Operatives of the FCT Police Command have arrested one Michael Uke for snatching vehicles from car owners at gunpoint along Kuje-Airport Road in Abuja.

In a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, on August 17, a Toyota Corolla vehicle with REG NO: ABC 258 LD, reportedly snatched at gunpoint on May 2 along Kuje-Airport Road, was being sighted by officers on duty.

The statement said with the aid of digital reconstruction intelligence, the operatives of the Command tracked the vehicle to one Ifego Guest Inn at Jabi where they discovered it was in the possession of one Michael Uke.

The statement further said that the suspect had already replaced the registration number on the vehicle with another, reading REG NO: AGD 146 JP.

The statement said that during the search, one (1) POS machine, one (1) knife, glass dissolving chemicals, one (1) military jungle hat, and the original REG NO. of the vehicle were discovered in his possession.

The statement said while the investigation is still ongoing, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh has reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents of the Territory. He further encourages residents to report any suspicious activities to the police and other relevant authorities.
