The Katsina State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected fraudster who specialises in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public using counterfeit currency.
The Police spokesman, Assistant Superintendent, ASP Abubakar-Sadiq Aliyu, said in a statement, that nemesis caught up with the suspect, 28-year-old Bishir Umar, when the command received intelligence on his illegal activities and location.

According to him, “Upon search in the area where he was trailed and arrested, the following suspected counterfeit currencies were recovered from his possession; four pieces of 1,000 Naira, 10,000 CFA, Niger Republic currency; and one piece of the 2,000 denomination of the Niger Republic CFA as well as ID Card bearing “Amadou Salamatou”.
The Katsina Police spokesman said the suspect, in the course of investigation, confessed to the commission of the offence.
Similarly, Aliyu said on July 6 at about 4 p.m., the command arrested a 43-year-old Alkasim Muhammad of Sharada Phase 3, Kano State, who is also a suspected fraudster, who specialised in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by way of fake bank transfers.
According to him, “Upon receipt of the complaint on the suspect’s nefarious activities, detectives were drafted for investigation, and he was tracked down and arrested at Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Two bank tellers and two GSM handsets were recovered as exhibits from the suspect, and he has confessed to the commission of the offence.
The suspect also identified three of his accomplices, whom he said are currently at large, as efforts are on, according to Aliyu, to arrest the fleeing suspects.
