The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a medical doctor, Noah Kekere, for allegedly removing the kidney of a woman, Kehinde Kamal, in Jos, the state capital.

Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the development to AIT.live on Friday said investigation into the matter has commenced fully.

Alabo said, the matter was reported by a businessman in Jos, Alhaji Kamal, who accused Dr. Noah Kekere, of harvesting one of his wife’s kidneys, during a surgical operation in 2018 which has left the woman in chronic pain in the last five years.

Kamal who earlier spoke to newsmen in Jos on Thursday said that sometimes in January 2018, his wife, Kehinde Kamal, complained of abdominal pains and she was rushed to the said Doctor’s clinic in the Nasarawa Gwong area of Jos North Local Government where he diagnosed her and concluded that she had appendicitis that had ruptured and needed urgent surgery.

According to Kamal, they have paid for the full cost of the drugs and hospital bills as instructed by the hospital management before undertaking the operations by the Doctor but after the surgery around August ending, the pains got extreme and they had to go to the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH where it was confirmed that one of her kidneys had been removed.

Kamal said they had reported the matter to the Police at Nasarawa Gwong and the Doctor was arrested, but the case has been transferred to the State Commissioner of Police and said all he wants is justice and the world to know the predicament that his wife is passing through because of Doctor Kekere’s unprofessional conduct.
