The Police in Benue State, say they have burst a child trafficking syndicate and arrested four suspects in the North Bank area of Makurdi, the State Capital.
Police Public Relations Officer Sewuese Anene disclosed this to ait.live in a statement.
According to the PPRO, the police rescued a child that was declared missing in the state.
Anene noted that while the kingpin one Friday escaped to an unknown destination the police apprehended four of his accomplices.

“Following information about a syndicate of Child Traffickers operating around Internally Displaced Persons camp at Northbank and other parts of Makurdi, surveillance was intensified in these areas and the following persons were arrested in connection with the offence; one Friday, the Kingpins wife and accomplice, Stephen Terungwa, Sughter Akegh and Atom Gideon.” the statement read in part
She also revealed that the suspects confessed to recruiting pregnant girls who gave birth and handed over to the kingpin Friday who has been on the run.
“They were paid one hundred and fifty thousand naira for each pregnancy that was delivered.”
Anene advised members of the public to ensure that their children are in safe places at all times especially now that they are on holidays.
