Police arrest suspected gunrunners in Abuja

Police in Abuja have arrested three suspects for trafficking a locally fabricated firearms in Kuje and Tungan maje axis of the Federal Capital Territory
In a statement the police say the suspects were also arrested with a truck load of food stuff to be delivered to bandits in the Kuje forest.


The statement says the Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday has deployed additional Police personnel and operational assets to improve public safety and security in Kuje and Tunganmaje as well as other border communities in the Federal Capital Territory.


According to the police, three suspects; Yahaya Haruna aged 40, Isah Haruna 55 and Sani Mani aged 70 were arrested, Yahaya Haruna was arrested by operatives of the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit in Tungan maje market on 29th September, 2021 while in possession of a locally fabricated firearm. He is believed to be a member of notorious criminal gang terrorizing residents in Tungan maje community.


Investigations also revealed that the food items and other logistics were being transported to a location in Kuje already being monitored by the command following reports of activities of kidnappers in the area.
