Police arrest suspected robbery gang members in Benin City

Four robbery suspects terrorising parts of Benin, Edo state are presently in the police net.

The suspects were arrested on Thursday with fake army uniforms after they robbed a woman at her residence on lucky way axis of Ikpoba hill.

These four suspects Iyobor Victor, Osas Agamwonyi, Nosa Owie and Edet Etukudo are a gang of armed robbers terrorising the Temboga axis of Ikpoba hill.

According to the police public relations officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, they were arrested in connection with the robbery that occurred in a house around Temboga off Lucky way on February 14 and March 8 2023.

The police image maker says the four men wearing fake military uniforms burst into the home of the victims whose names were withheld at about 1am on the 14th of February through the ceiling of the house and subjected the family to harrowing experience using dangerous weapons before forcefully collecting the sum of four hundred and forty-seven thousand naira through bank transfer and some household items including mattress, washing machine, fan, mobile phones and gas cooker.

They returned on the 8th of March, after the family left the house in fear, to remove the air-conditioning system, inverter batteries, washing machine and other items.

The suspects who were still clad in the military uniform used in carrying out the robbery admitted to the crime saying that they were given the information to rob the family by a person well known to the victim who is now at large.
