The police say they have succeeded in arresting suspected thieves who allegedly stole wall fans in a Jummu’at Mosque at Dutsen Kura-Kwasau area of Minna, the Niger State capital, North-Central Nigeria.
In a statement by the spokesperson of the Police, Deputy Superintendent Wasiu Abiodun, the thieves were arrested with two sacks containing seven wall fans and have confessed during interrogation to having stolen the items in a Jummu’at Mosque.
The suspects, namely 21-year-old Mohammed Abdulsamiu, 16-year-old Abdulraheem Abdulsamiu, and 17-year-old Abdullahi Usman all of the Dutsen Kura Gwari area were known as notorious burglars in the community by the residents as they specialise in breaking into homes and places of worship.
The suspects, according to the police have been charged to court.
Similarly, a 22-year-old man has been arrested by the police for chopping off the hands of a motorcycle rider he boarded to a certain village.
According to DSP Abiodun, the suspect, Usman Maniya of Gbete village in Mokwa LGA of the state, boarded a motorcycle and before reaching his destination, attacked the rider with a cutlass, severed the rider’s right hand and took the unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued about N700,000 away.
According to the police, the suspect was arrested by its operatives from Kudu outstation, Mokwa Division based on the information received from the community.
The exhibits of the cutlass and motorcycle were recovered from the suspect as the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Mokwa for treatment.
