Police arrest woman who supplies AK-47 live ammunition to bandits in 6 states

Police have 10 suspected criminals, including 30-year-old married woman, Fatima Lawali, who supplies live AK- 47 ammunition to bandits in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Katsina and the Niger States.

Other offences being highlighted included those of complicity in banditry, criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, arms dealing, trafficking in Cannabis Sativa, cattle rustling, unlawful possession of firearms and rape, among others.

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana said, among the suspects arrested at various locations were a bandits’ ring leader, Lawali Na’eka and an alleged notorious bandits’ kingpin, Almeriya, who operates in Maradun and Bugundu Local Government Areas of the state.

The 30-year old married woman, Fatima Lawali and nine male bandits’ leaders and collaborators have been nabbed from different parts of Zamfara State, by the Police Tactical Operatives from the Force Investigation Bureau, of the Force Headquarters in Abuja, in synergy with other operatives.

They made what the Police Commissioner, Ayuba Elkana described as a landmark success.

The Police recovered 10 AK-47 rifles, 991 rounds of live ammunition and a large number of leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa from the suspects.

Elkana disclosed that the Police Tactical Operatives, in collaboration with the Zamfara State Command, acted on credible intelligence, which led to the arrest of the notorious bandits’ leaders and collaborators in the state.

The 30-year old Fatima Lawali who deals in the supply of live ammunition and Bahuga Abubakar, who has been collaborating with cattle rustlers for a long time, confessed to the crimes, but asked for forgiveness and promised to renounce his crimes.
