As the date planned for the national protest over economic hardship and bad governance in Nigeria draws closer, the Nigeria Police Force has said they remain committed and unrelenting in maintaining law and order during and after the planned protest.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD-CBRN), Patrick Adedeji Atayero and his colleague at the Lagos State Police Command, Adegoke Fayaode spoke at separate fora on Thursday.
While both top officers acknowledged the rights of citizens to protest, they however called on the planers of the protest to operate within the ambit of the law to avoid a possible hijack of what should be a peaceful protest by hoodlums who may want to take advantage of the moment to cause mayhem.
