As part of measures to ensure safety on the Benin-Sapele road, the Edo State police command is leading a joint task force of security operatives on a bush combing exercise to dislodge kidnappers and other criminals hiding there.
The operation which is one of many that have been carried out in the state in the last one month will see the use of technology as crime fighting technique.
The task force, including the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies, is to curb the activities of kidnappers and other criminals along the highway.
The state commissioner of police, Monday Agbonika is leading the team to ensure that criminals who use the bushes as hideouts are fished out.
Agbonika who said the state is determined to reduce crimes to the barest minimum solicited the cooperation and support of citizens in providing useful information that will help in arresting criminals.
