Police confirm abduction of Punch Journalist; Four children in Abuja

The FCT Command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the abduction of a journalist with the Punch Newspaper, Ikechukwu Nnodim, and two children in Abuja.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mariam Yusuf who confirmed this in a telephone interview with AIT on Thursday said the journalist and the children were abducted from their residence at the popular Arab road in kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The PPRO confirmed that the kidnappers also attacked Nnodim’s neighbour, Mrs. Faith Gbeyide, a widow and went away with her two sons.
The police Public Relations officers says the victims’ houses are located at the base of a hill in the isolated part of Arab road.

The abductors numbering five strange men were said to have scaled the fence of the victims’ house and entered their compound ordering them to open their doors.

Mariam also confirmed that the family are yet to be contacted by the abductors.

Meanwhile the PPRO however told AIT that the command has launched a rescue operation in search of the victims.
