Police confirm abduction of six persons from UniAbuja staff quarters

Police in Abuja the Nigerian Capital have confirmed the abduction of six persons from the University of Abuja staff quarters into the forest by yet to be identified criminal elements.

The Police Public Relations officer FCT Command, Josephine Adeh who confirmed this says the Commissioner of Police, FCT Babaji Sunday has dispatched additional tactical and conventional policing resources to the University of Abuja, UNIABUJA, main and satellite campuses as well as the staff quarters and other affiliate formations of the university, to fortify security, improve public safety and protect citizens in and around the university community.

She says the CP gave the order following report that some yet to be identified armed criminals invaded the UNIABUJA Staff Quarters located at the Giri area of the FCT in the early hours of Tuesday.

In a statement signed by the Command PPRO the CP noted that a combined team of the Police and personnel of the Nigerian Army 176 Guards Battalion were swiftly mobilized to the area to protect the citizens.

The CP who assures residents that the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to book says security forces are already working with the locals in the area toward rescuing the victims.

The Command pledges its undeterred resolve to ensure lives and properties of residents within the FCT are protected and called on them to report all suspicious movements within their environment to relevant authorities.

This is the third attacks on communities around Giri, Tunga Maje and Ido in a space of two months.

This is aside the abduction of a traditional rulers and his son at Yangoji in Kuje area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
