Tragedy struck in Minna metropolis of Niger State when a Guarantee Trust Bank, GTB, driver, Muhammed Abo’ore was killed by suspected thugs while heading home in the Fadikpe area of Chanchaga Local Government of the state.
According to a statement by police spokesman, Wasi’u Abiodun, on April 20 at about 10.45pm, information was received from a vigilante leader in Fadikpe area that some miscreants were sighted around the Rafi area of Fadikpe smoking cannabis.
As a result of this, the vigilante members mobilised to the area to effect arrest pending the arrival of the police, while one Mohammed Abo’ore, a community member volunteered to assist the vigilante men in the arrest.
Abiodun said that in the process of arresting one of the miscreants, Abo’ore was stabbed with scissors by one of them, Nura Buhari who eventually escaped.
The victim was rushed to General Hospital Minna where he gave up the ghost.
The police spokesman also said that one of the miscreants, Abdullahi Rabiu, was arrested and under investigation as he assists the police with further information.
