Edo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two farmers, Philip Batemue also known as Ebo and Christopher Bello by suspected herdsmen in Okpekpe community in Etsako East Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, CSP Joel Yamu, the Command received report on Monday morning from the paramount ruler of Okpekpe, that two of his subjects were attacked and killed in their farms by suspected herdsmen.

News had filtered in on Monday morning about the gruesome killing of the two men by suspected herdsmen while going to their farms barely four months after a similar incident claimed the lives of other farmers.

Stepson to one of the deceased, Philip Batemue, who survived the attack said they were on their way to the farm to pick cashew nuts along the popular Ibadan Farm Road in Okpekpe when they saw some Fulani herdsmen numbering about 20 come out from the bush with guns and sticks.

As soon as they ran into them, the herdsmen started beating them with the sticks and suddenly, they fell from the motorcycle and his stepfather was shot thereafter.
