Police Confirms Killing of Sergeant, Abduction of 4 Chinese Nationals in Akamkpa

The Cross River Police Command has confirmed the killing of Sergeant Ifere Samson and the kidnap of four Chinese workers at their Construction firm in Oban area of Akamkpa Local Government council of the State.

Sgt. Samson until his death was attached to the construction company owned by the Chinese as security operative before he met his untimely death.

Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo who confirmed the incident to Newsmen said the anti Kidnapping and anti Cultism Crack team has been deployed by the command to rescue the kidnapped Foreign Nationals.

Ugbo also confirmed that the corpse of the late police sergeant has been deposited at the mortuary in Akampa.

Eyewitness account said that armed gunmen suspected to be ex- Militants from the repentant Bakassi Strike Force stormed the company and shot the late police sergeant at the gate and made away with the foreign Chinese Nationals.

The Kidnappers according to an anonymous source then made away with the Chinese Nationals through the creek of Oban in Akampa.

The kidnapped Chinese citizens are Kan Jinxi, Hujinchang, Jiang Jijun and Cheng Qing .They are all working with a construction firm in one of the Akampa Quary sites.

Some youth leaders of Oban had recently stage a peaceful Protest , demanding that Akamkpa Communities be given treatment befitting of them by the Chinese Employer who they said engage them only for casual labour.
