As part of efforts to encourage professionalism in the Police Force and enhance the security architecture of Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri has said, the State will collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in building a befitting complex for the Command in Yenagoa.
The Governor made the remarks when he played host to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG in charge of the South South zone, Sokari Pedro, at Government House, Yenagoa.
DIG Sokari Pedro’s visit to the Bayelsa State Government House was part of his official tour of the South South zone which is under his charge.
Represented by his Deputy, Lawrence Ehurujakpo, the Governor commended the professionalism of the Police in executing their duties, particularly in the last off cycle governorship election, as against previous elections in the State.
The Governor however faulted the basis of Police recruitment and into other Federal government agencies that were based on the number of Local Government Areas in a State.
DIG Pedro had earlier rated Bayelsa State as one of the most peaceful in recent times, assuring to making sure that the tempo was sustained.
From Bayelsa State, the DIG, headed to Cross Rivers State in continuation of the tour of Police formations in the South South zone.
