Ebonyi State Police Command says it has commenced investigation of alleged professional misconduct against some of its personnel.

A recent viral video captured some persons suspected to be policemen on duty at a checkpoint alleged to be extorting motorcycle operators and other road users.

Two separate video clips sighted by AIT.live showed when uniformed persons suspected to be personnel of the Nigeria Police Force captured in the act, collecting what appeared to be Naira notes from commercial motorcycle riders, motorists, and depositing same in their vaults.

The videos captured by armature cameras, closely got the corrupt activities of the officers which happened over the weekend at the Ishike and Hilltop checkpoints in the metropolis.

A statement on Tuesday by the State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu notes that the Police authorities have strongly condemned the actions of the identified officers involved, stating that disciplinary processes have been intiated against them.

“The Command unequivocally condemns their actions and has identified the officers involved, while disciplinary actions have already been initiated against them.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Police Command, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya, is using this medium to reiterate the Command’s zero tolerance for extortion or any form of misconduct while noting that any officer found wanting would face disciplinary actions”, the statement concluded.
