Police have confirmed the rescue of 25 abducted victims following a foiled bandits attack in Damba area of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the State Police Command spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, the incident occurred on November 21 at about 9:45 p.m. when a large group of armed bandits, wielding dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically, attacked Kuraje village in Damba.
According to the police, the bandits abducted 10 women and 15 children during the attack.
According to the Police, upon receiving the distress call, a joint patrol team from the Damba Division, in collaboration with the Community Protection Guards, swiftly mobilised to the scene.
The team pursued the fleeing bandits and engaged them in a coordinated, and strategic operation.
As a result of the intervention, all 25 abducted victims were rescued unharmed. They were subsequently relocated to Sabon Gari area of Damba, for safety and proper profiling before being reunited with their families.
