The Police say it will not tolerate acts of jungle justice on suspects in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the State Command, Ahmed Wakil while reacting to an ugly incident by irate youths in Chinade, Katagum Local Government Area. Reports say jungle justice was meted on a suspected criminal, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle, without recourse to the law, leading to his death.
The Command frowned at the action which it described as barbaric and inimical to the law governing the country.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda, has ordered proper investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the gruesome act.
