Police in Katsina say they have succeeded in gunning down one suspected car thief and recovered a car snatched at gunpoint from Abuja at the Katsina-Niger Republic border.

Spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah while displaying the corpse of the suspected armed robber and the recovered car said, they were able to beat security agencies using a jammer device which made it impossible to track them down.

Isah while explaining how the car was recovered said, on September 16 at about 7:00 am, the command’s anti-kidnapping unit got intelligence of some armed robbers who snatched a Toyota Land Cruiser car in Abuja heading to the Niger Republic and were intercepted at Koza, a border town to the Niger Republic.

He said the police engaged them in a gun duel leading to the death of one of the members while the car was recovered.

Isah said the robbers were able to get away with the car as they used a sophisticated jammer to beat security agencies in Abuja but they, in Katsina due to their own sophisticated tactics tracked the robbers.

He, therefore, warned criminals to stay away from using katsina borders as escape routes else, they will continue to meet their waterloo.

The command had recently recovered about 13 stolen vehicles from different criminals terrorizing the metropolis.
