Police gun down suspected kidnapper, Rescue victims

The Police in Nasarawa State says it has successfully stopped a kidnap attempt on motorists along the Nasarawa-Keffi highway and neutralised a suspected kidnapper

The Command`s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel made this known in a statement in Lafia, the state capital.

Nansel said, the command received a distress call that some criminals had blocked the Nasarawa-Keffi highway to kidnap unsuspecting road users.

The police in collaboration with the military, Nansel noted swiftly went to the scene of the operation.

The criminals On sighting the joint operatives opened fire and a gun duel ensued and
one of the hoodlums was fatally wounded and apprehended while the others abandoned the mission

The kidnappers had earlier stopped two sport utility vehicles in a bid to kidnap the occupants.

The wounded kidnapper who was taken to the General Hospital, Nasarawa, in Nasarawa Local Government Area later died while receiving treatment.

One Ak-47 rifle loaded with eleven rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered from the hoodlum.
