Police in Enugu State’s southeast say they have killed four suspected gunmen who attempted to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order in the capital city.
A statement by the State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, late Friday, explained that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day.

Giving details of an alleged encounter between the suspected gunmen and security operatives, DSP Ndukwe said a manhunt after the morning clash, led to the recovery of the lifeless bodies of four people in a forest at Awkunanaw, Enugu, where they escaped.
Information has it that the Police intercepted gunmen on the said Friday morning at a popular point known as, “One Day”, around the Awkunanaw-Agbani Road area of the Enugu metropolis, where the suspects snatched a commercial vehicle from its driver at gunpoint for their operation.
The Police said they recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 19 live rounds of 7.62 calibres, two bottles of petrol bombs, and other incriminating exhibits.
The statement adds that the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, is assuring residents of their security and safety, urging them to disregard any threat of a purported illegal sit-at-home order.
