The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command has adopted a new security strategy to deal with the growing security concerns in the nation’s capital city.

The new strategy which includes a massive deployment of personnel, intelligence gathering, aggressive vehicular and foot patrol, and intelligence-led stop and search, was the outcome of Tuesday’s meeting of the critical organs of the police authority in the FCT.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command’s round-table meeting with its critical organs and top management staff, holistically revisited the security architecture of the territory, to clamp down on the persistent security challenges within and around the FCT.

The Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday, while urging the officers and men deployed for the job, told them to go about the discharge of their duties with respect for fundamental human rights, in line with global best practices, and professionalism.

He urged members of the public to observe calm and eschew promulgation of fake news, capable of causing panic while going about their lawful businesses, without any fear of harassment or molestation of any kind from any quarters.

While the Police continue its onward march to bring crime and criminality to their barest minimum in the territory, the residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence to the Police and other relevant authorities.
