Police in Niger recover stolen car, tricycle, arrest five suspects with toy gun.

Five persons have been arrested by the Police in Niger State for car and tricycle theft using a toy gun.

Three suspects between the ages of 25 and 30 were said to have been initially nabbed on May 4 by operatives attached to Tafa Division at Dikko junction, with a white Toyota Camry vehicle, suspected to have been stolen.

Confirming the incident, Police spokesman, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, in a statement, asaid during interrogation, one of the suspects confessed that one of the suspects led him and another person to a residence in Bosso Estate for robbery.

It was gathered that upon reaching the location, one of them was armed with a toy agun, while the other two used screwdrivers as weapons and requested money, but as there was no money, the wife of the victim drove in within the period of the robbery, and the vehicle was snatched.

Abiodun added that aa preliminary investigation revealed that two of the suspects drove the vehicle away, while the other stayed back and locked the victims in the toilet to ensure that nobody raised alarm.

The vehicle was reportedly disposed of at Kaduna before their arrest, while the vehicle was recovered.

In another incident, police operatives on a stop and search at Maje Bridge, intercepted a suspect who stole a tricycle.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he stole the tricycle from a mosque at Dakwa, under the pretence of observing morning prayers, and when the prayers commenced, he ran out of the mosque and made away with the tricycle.

It was further gathered that the tricycle was to be taken to another accomplice, equally arrested, to facilitate the movement of the tricycle to Katsina State to a buyer to sell.
