Police move to mop-up illegal firearms in Niger State

The Police in Niger State have issued 9-days ultimatum to anyone in possession of illegal and prohibited firearms to surrender them to the nearby Police Station.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun categorized the arms to include single barrel, double barrel, automatic pump action and locally fabricated guns.

The firearms are to be surrendered on or before September 30th, 2020.

The statement said the police will at the end of the ultimatum begin firearms mop-up in the State.

It further said anyone found in possession of firearms without necessary licence shall be arrested and prosecuted, for unlawful possession of firearms

It calls on members of the public to come forward with useful information that can aid the police curb crimes in the State.
