Police nab Niger Republic citizen, 3 others for transborder drug trafficking, car theft

A Niger Republic citizen, 30-year-old Murtala Rabiu and 3 others have been arrested by the Police in Katsina State, for allegedly being involved in transborder drug trafficking and car theft.

The spokesman of the command, Superintendent Gambo Isah, said, the Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, is sending a strong warning to transborder criminals to look elsewhere, as he will make the state hot for them.

While the Niger Republic citizen, was caught with 10 wraps of neatly packed cannabis sativa and 10 sachets of D5 tablets, the trio of some other suspected transborder criminals was nabbed with 2 vehicles to be disposed of in Niger Republic.

Superintendent Isah said luck ran out on the suspected drug trafficker when he was intercepted along the Kalgo to Koza road, on his unregistered Daylong motorcycle to the Niger Republic, with the packages.

For the trio of the suspected transborder car thieves, Isah also said they were picked from a car mechanic workshop with the 2 vehicles, where they went to fix and repaint them.

The ring leader of the syndicate, 55-year-old Usman Sani, who is a driver, said he has been in the business for about 3 years.

He added that the Honda CR-V would go for 300 thousand Naira, while the Toyota Camry is 250 thousand.

Sani also said that with the 2 recent vehicles, it would have been the ninth they have stolen.

Other arrests include 16 suspected vandals of different government installations, 2 suspected members of a cult group, an armed robber, a motorcycle thief, a bandits’ informant and their food supplier, as well as various exhibits.
