Police nabs Suspected kidnapper in Niger State for threatening farmer with 9 million naira access fee

Police in Niger State say they have succeeded in arresting a 45-year-old Aminu Amale, who threatened to kidnap a farmer if he refuses to pay nine point five million naira access fee.

The incident was said to have occurred on December 24, 2025, at about 8am at Kakuza village via Kumbashi area, Mariga Local Government Area of the state.

According to the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, trouble started when based on a complaint received that a farmer got to his farm and found a written letter with a phone number attached to the Guinea Corn harvested, requesting the farmer to pay a sum of Nine Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira before he could be allowed to evacuate the Guinea Corn or else be kidnapped.

It was gathered that on December 27, based on the report received, the Police with the aid of technical intelligence, arrested the 45-year-old Aminu Amale of Shadadi village, Mariga Local Government Area, in connection with the letter.

Abiodun added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and claimed that he needed money to sort out some personal challenges.

The suspect has, however, been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
