Three suspected bandits have been reportedly killed by the men of the Benue State Police Command, with several others sustaining injuries.
The police said the injured escaped into nearby communities during gun fights with the bandits in the Sankera axis of the state.
The Command Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, who disclosed this in a statement, said security agents have sustained operations in Sankera, to clamp down on the bandits, particularly in communities where attacks are being threatened.
She explained that in the last week, the operation Zenda JTF teams have engaged bandits at Mbafyan, Mbachir Council Ward, Kastina-Ala Local Government Area and Tse Shenge, Ukum Local Government Area in a gun dwell.
Anene said items, including one (1) Toyota Corolla, one Hummer bus, one tricycle, twelve motorcycles and three short guns were recovered from the suspects.
According to her, the Commissioner of Police, Hassan Steve, advised the people of the area to be vigilant, and report suspicious movements to security agents in their communities, as bandits running from security agents may be violent against vulnerable people.
