Kebbi State Police Command says a gang of suspected kidnappers was sighted in the nearby forest along Tungargiwa/Saminaka road at Shanga local government area of the state.
A team of security operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers in a fierce gun duel. As a result, three suspected kidnappers were neutralized, one AK47 rifle, one magazine, and seven live ammunition were also recovered from them.
This achievement was included in a statement from the Kebbi police headquarter signed by Nafiu Abubakar on behalf of the state Command and made available to journalists in BirninKebbi
The State Commissioner of police, Bello Sani praised the Security Agencies for their courageous response. He noted that the successful operation has demonstrated the Command’s determination to securing the State against violent crimes.
He further appreciated the role played by the local communities for sharing the intelligence promptly, without which, the police operatives cannot succeed.
The CP reiterated that the intensified patrols around Shanga and adjoining communities by the police with a view to preventing incursions of criminal elements are yielding positive results.
CP Bello M Sani however, reiterated the importance of sustaining collaboration between the police and members of the public.
He urged them to be vigilant and continue to report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or other security agencies, stressing that prevention of crimes remain the best strategy in safeguarding the lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State.
