A middle-aged man, identified as Stanley Overmureye, who allegedly smashed the head of his 6-year-old daughter against the wall multiple times that led to her death has been declared wanted by the Delta State Police Command.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the unfortunate incident occurred on June 15 at Uviama Layout in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state, and the suspect has been at large since then.
The suspect’s brother was said to have reported the incident to the police, leading to the discovery of the child’s lifeless body with multiple head injuries.
The Command in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda expressed deep sorrow over the heinous act, and has ordered an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspect.
The CP also assured the public that the suspect will be apprehended and justice will be served.
