Police parade fake military officer, 60 others in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected 28-year-old Timothy Emmanuel, from Plateau State for impersonation as, a military officer.

Also paraded were 60 other suspected criminals who were arrested at different times in some locations for various offences in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Adesina Soyemi, disclosed this while parading the suspects at the Police, headquarters along Shendam road in Lafia.

He said the suspected fake military officer, Timothy Emmanuel, was arrested with military camouflage, in possession of AK 49 rifle with two magazines and was driving a black Toyota Corolla, with registration number ABUJA, BWR 973 CD.

The commissioner of police also explained that Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect who parades himself in military camouflage was never enlisted into the Army but got the uniform from his Uncle who is a Military personnel serving in Borno State.

Some of the suspected criminals also arrested were a 22-year-old Abimiku Murtala Lucky Ovey, a 100 level computer science student of the Federal University of Lafia, 25 year old Okoli Bright, another 100 level political science student of the University of Jos and two students of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, who are members of Black Axe confraternity.

A summary of those arrested shows that 16 were kidnappers, 18 cultists, 13 armed robbers, 7 rail track vandals, 7 internet fraudsters.

Items recovered includes 5 firearms, 5 handsets, 4 ammunition, 4 trucks/vehicles, 2 magazines and one laptop computer.

CP Soyemi, therefore appealed to the People of the State to be more supportive to the Police, in the discharge of their statutory duty, by availing them with credible information that will help to proactively neutralized or deal with matters of security in the State.
