Police reassess security at custodial centres in Zamfara State after Kuje deadly attack

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana, has assured of a robust partnership with the State Comptroller of Correctional Service, to rejig the security architecture of all custodial facilities, and other vulnerable infrastructure in the state.

Elkana in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, said the measure is to ensure adequate protection of all custodial facilities and other vulnerable infrastructure in the state and to prevent any attack on such facilities by criminal elements.

The Commissioner of Police committed to reviewing the existing security of custodial centres domiciled in the state.

It added that the Commissioner of Police along with the Comptroller of Correctional Service, visited the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Gusau, the state capital, in a bid to assess the security architecture and to fortify the security of all such centres in the state.

The Commissioner of Police while reassuring the Comptroller of his Command’s commitment to partner with other security agencies in this regard, called on members of the public to support the Police with credible information, on the activities of criminal elements in the state.
