Detectives at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kwara State Police Command Ilorin, have recovered the dismembered part of the remains of one commercial motorcyclist, Rafiu Akao who was brutally murdered by Peter Samuel, Jeremiah Tiozinda and Sunday Agbenke on November 4 2024.

This is contained in a statement signed and made available to Journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, CP. Victor Olaiya.

According to the statement, all the three suspects have confessed to the crime, with the motive of dispossessing the late 34-year-old victim of his commercial motorcycle.

The Police maintained that investigation revealed that Sunday Agbenke gave out the phone contact of the motorcycle rider to Peter Samuel to lure him to an undisclosed location. While on their way, the rider was stopped and Peter Samuel wanted to ease himself giving way for Jeremiah Tiozinda to hit him on the head with a stick.

The rider (victim) fell off his motorcycle to the ground and further struggled to escape but was eventually overpowered by Peter Samuel and Jeremiah Tiozinda. Peter Samuel brought out a cutlass and severed the head while Jeremiah Tiozinda threw the dismembered part and cutlass into the stream; dashing away with his motorcycle.

The noise of the dastardly act caught the attention of the Vigilante on patrol, who gave them a hot chase. The culprits abandoned the motorcycle and fled into the bush. Unfortunately the mobile phone of Peter Samuel fell off at the scene of crime, leading to their arrest by police detectives. The suspects are to be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, CP Victor Olaiya has reiterated his commitment to safeguarding lives and properties of the residents of the State while also maintaining the enforcement on the restriction of movement of motorcycles and tricycle riders from 9pm to 6am daily, insisting that anyone found violating the law will be prosecuted accordingly.
