The Zamfara State Police Command says it has neutralised eleven armed bandits following a deadly attack in Yarkatsinan Lala community, Bungudu Local Government Area of the state. Several other suspects reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries.
Tragically, two police officers and three civilians lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire, while another officer sustained injuries.
According to reports, more than 50 bandits riding on motorcycles launched the attack on the community.

This development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar.
The statement noted that the incident occurred on April 7, 2026, at about 5:55 p.m., when a large number of armed bandits, operating on over 50 motorcycles and armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the area.
Police operatives responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a gun duel that led to the killing of eleven of the assailants, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Bello, has commiserated with the families of the fallen officers and affected residents. He also reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to strengthening security and restoring lasting peace in the state.
