Police rescue 15 people from Adamawa illegal Rehabilitation Centre

The Nigerian Police have confirmed the rescue of 15 persons from an illegal Islamic Rehabilitation Centre in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

Thirteen adults and two minors were found bound in chains and in dehumanizing conditions in a one-room apartment at Wuro Hausa in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Suleiman Nguroje said the victims mostly adults, who are between 22 and 46 years of age along with two teenagers, were chained, subjected to all sorts of torture without food or medical care.

Nguroje said that investigation is ongoing to fish out the owner of the rehabilitation centre.
