The Police in Zamfara State say they have secured the unconditional and safe rescue of five out of the 73 abducted students of Government Day Secondary school, Kaya, in Maradun Local Government Area of the state.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu said, the five abducted students were rescued by the search and rescue team deployed to comb the forest to ensure the safe rescue of the 73 abducted male and female students.
It added that upon the abduction of the 73 students, the Zamfara State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and the state government, swung into action, by deploying a joint search and rescue team to Kaya and its environs, to effectively rescue the abducted students and reunite them with their families.

The statement noted that the ongoing search and rescue mission is yielding positive result, as five abducted female students were rescued on Thursday.
The victims were medically checked at the hospital, debriefed by the Police and reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkana, assured the people of the state that, the ongoing search and Bu rescue effort will be sustained, till the remaining abducted students are rescued hale and hearty.
