Zamfara State Police Command has rescued social activist, Hamdiya Sidi Shariff from the hands of bandits, contrary to report which has been circulating on social media claiming that she was arrested and detained by the police in Bakura Local Government Area of the State.

The State commissioner of police, Ibrahim Maikaba described the story claiming that Hamdiya Sidi Shariff was arrested and detained by the Police in Bakura as false and fake news.

He said Hamdiya Sidi Shariff who hails from Sokoto State was abducted by suspected armed men but the police in Bakura rescued her and the Divisional Police officer brought her to the command on Thursday to be reunited with her family.

CP Maikaba disclosed that the police ensured all medical examinations were carried out on Hamdiya with a view to ensuring she is in good and stable health conditions before they handed her over to her relative, Fatima Bello.

Hamdiya Sidi narrated her situation, refuting the claim that she was arrested and detained by the Police, and she was in bad conditions, setting the record straight that police operatives rescued her at a village in Bakura LGA.

The Aunt of the kidnapped victim, Fatima Bello, who came to receive Hamdiya at the Zamfara Police Command, thanked the commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Maikaba, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bakura Division for rescuing and ensure Hamdiya received proper medical care.
