Police in Katsina have rescued an 8-month-old baby boy, a 70-year-old man, and six others, during a foiled broad daylight bandit attack in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Those rescued are made up of 6 females and 2 males, In a statement by the Police spokesman, Superintendent of Police, Gambo Isah, the incident took place on July 23 at about 2:30 pm.

The statement said, the bandits in their numbers, on motorbikes, armed with AK 47 rifles, blocked the Jibia – Batsari road at the Kabobi village in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.
During the road blockade, the hoodlums were said to have attacked and kidnapped all the 8 occupants of a motor vehicle and whisked them away into the forest.
Isah said on receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Batsari, led teams of Operation Puff Adder and Sharan Daji to the area, chased after the hoodlums, engaged them in a gun duel, and successfully rescued eight of the victims, while 3 persons were abducted into the forest.
The Police image maker further said search parties are still combing the area, with the view to arrest the fleeing bandits and rescuing the remaining three victims.
