The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has initiated disciplinary action against officers filmed accepting money from two Chinese national in a viral video.

In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi described the officers’ conduct as “unprofessional and unethical”, stating that they violated the NPF’s ethics and core values.

The statement read in part that,
“The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behaviour and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence”.

The officers, identified as Mobile Police (MOPOL) personnel led by DSP Aliyu Adejembi, were summoned to Force Headquarters in Abuja on 16 April for disciplinary proceedings.

The video, which surfaced on 15 April, showed them receiving ₦5,000 each while on escort duty in Kaduna for a Chinese mining company, AKK – Frontier Risk Management Nigeria Limited.

The NPF cautioned organisations against actions that degrade police integrity, warning that such acts bring disrepute to the Force.

For now, the statement is silent on what charges will be made against the Chinese miners for disparaging personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in a manner that cannot be replicated in their home country, China.
