Police Step-Up Campaign Against Cultism In Anambra State

A fresh public awareness campaign against rising incidents of violent cult-related crisis and other vices have rolled out in Anambra State, South East Nigeria.

The State Police Command is leading the new charge, demonstrating a clear show of force through a road sensitisation walk, drawing public attention and knowledge to the dangers of the cultism.

Incidents of violent cult rivalry attacks have become increasingly rampant in recent times in Anambra State, leaving behind trails of killings, and families in sorrows.

Now, the Anambra State Police Command has step-up a public awareness campaign against cult-related activities, with a road sensitisation walk in Awka, the State capital.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun who addressed a predominantly youth audience through CP Ikioye Orutugu, challenged the youths to be gainfully engaged, and shun social pressures to go into crime.

For the Anambra State Government, the Police anti-cultism awareness campaign initiative, aligns with Governor Soludo administration’s programme of a new value system orientation.

A Rights Activist, NANS leader and some on-lookers during the road walk, told AIT that the campaign is coming at a proper time, sending appeals to the authorises to confront the prevailing economic and security downturns of the country.

Several youth groups, students unions, keke drivers, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society were among others who participated in the sensitisation road walk.
