The Bauchi State Police Command has suspended the curfew imposed on Yelwan Tsakani, Lushi and Anguwan Kusu communities of the Bauchi Local Government Area, following a review of the improvement of security in the area.
It could be recalled that a 24-hour curfew was imposed on the communities, following a conflict which started between two youths in the area and later escalated to some other areas, resulting in the killing of three persons and leaving scores of houses burnt.
After a review of the initial curfew, the command further relaxed it to 12 hours.
A press statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, stated that the command is appealing to the community, religious and youth leaders in the area, as well as the general public to maintain a close watch over the behaviour of the youths, and happenings in the area, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
