Suspects and items recovered from raid on three IPOB camps in Ebonyi State

The Police have uncovered a shrine with a live tortoise, and three camps of reportedly belonging to members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, which is the militant arm of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, dislodging the hoodlums and taking over the ground.

The three camps are located in a thick forest close to Opeke River, in Omege village in Agba community of Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State in South-East Nigeria. The shrine which is said to belong to the dare-devil ESN State Commander popularly called Ambassador, who is now at large, is sited at Anike Isu in Onicha Local Government Area of the State.

State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Chris Anyanwu, confirmed this to newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital on Sunday, while parading two suspected ESN members including Nnamdi Obaji alongside many recovered items.

Narrating how the camps were raided, Anyanwu says it was an operation spearheaded by the Command’s Tactical teams and assisted by the Military and Department of State Services, DSS following the positive revelations made in the course of interrogating the two suspects.

The police spokesperson believes that the latest breakthrough is timely, even as the electioneering sets in, and the festive season draws near.
