A total of 1, 350 Special Police Constabularies have passed out from the Police College in Sokoto.

The cadets passed out with another 1,200 from the Police College in Kaduna, on Friday.

Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed supervised the passing out parade.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, Zailani Bappa, six females were among the successful
Constabularies.

The new recruits were the first batch of 7,500 to be trained and posted to Zamfara State to assist the Police and the Military to curb the growing menace of banditry in the state.

The statement said the trained young men and women will replace banned ‘Yan Sa Kai’ vigilantes; assisting the Police in critical areas of intelligence gathering, peace and reconciliation as well as arresting miscreants.

The statement quoted the Governor as saying, “I have made it clear that we shall fight crime in the state within the confines of the law. These graduands will work under the supervision of the Police, to help rid our communities of crimes”.

The Commandant of the Police College, Kabir Mohammed said the passing out of the young men and women was a significant step towards community policing.

He said all those who passed out were found worthy of being commissioned, as they were found worthy in training, discipline and learning.
