Police in Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria have arrested and detained one of its personnel, a male Inspector of Police serving in the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad of the Command.

The officer is alleged to have murdered the popular traditional Ogene musician, Okezie Chikezie Mba, known by his stage name Igbo-Jah.

The incident reportedly occurred at 8:10 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Tactical Squad’s headquarters.

According to a statement from the spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the musician was leaving the Squad’s Headquarters after a friendly visit when, for reasons yet unknown, the police officer discharged his firearm, fatally wounding the victim.
